I traded my stethoscope for a spatula…and found my way back to joy.
For nearly twenty years, I practiced family medicine, listening deeply, caring for others, and carrying stories of resilience and hardship. But somewhere along the way, I lost touch with my own spark.
Baking had always been my quiet refuge. Even in the busiest years, I found myself in the kitchen late at night, whisk in hand, creating something sweet to share with people I loved. It wasn’t just about dessert: it was about connection, care, and beauty.
Eventually, I followed that passion all the way to The French Pastry School in Chicago. There, I immersed myself in the craft of pastry with the same dedication I once brought to medicine and rediscovered the joy I thought I had lost.
Now through Gourmet Layers, I share French-inspired recipes, techniques, and sweet lifestyle ideas. This blog is a place for bakers and dreamers alike, whether you’re perfecting a classic tart, learning a new skill, or simply finding inspiration to make everyday moments feel extraordinary.
