As a mom and a woman who knows what it means to juggle life’s many layers, Christiana created Gourmet Layers to offer more than just cake - to create something soulful, special, and made with heart. From Healing Hands to Frosting Wands
For nearly two decades, I practiced medicine - listening closely, caring deeply, and helping people navigate life’s hardest moments. I loved parts of that work deeply, but over time, the weight of it began to wear me down. Somewhere between patient charts and sleepless nights, I lost the spark I once had. Maybe you’ve been there too, doing something you trained so long for, something you’re good at, but feeling like a part of you is slowly going quiet.
For me, baking was the thing that never stopped bringing me joy. I’ve been baking since I was a girl - it’s how I show love, how I celebrate people, how I breathe. Even during the busiest years in medicine, I’d find myself staying up late to bake a cake for someone I cared about. It was never just about the dessert - it was about making someone feel seen, special, remembered.
After some time off for soul searching, I realized it was time to listen to that part of myself and lean fully into this lifelong love. I enrolled at The French Pastry School where I studied the craft of pastry with the same intensity I once brought to medicine - and rediscovered the joy I thought I had lost.
Now, through Gourmet Layers, I get to create cakes that feel like little celebrations of life - soulful, thoughtful, and made with intention. Whether you’re marking a birthday or just want to make an ordinary day feel extraordinary, I’m honored to be part of your story - one delicious layer at a time.
